Elegant Beach Themed Bat Mitzvah Party

I enjoyed everything about planning this Bat Mitzvah.  The guest of honor had a true vision of how
she wanted things to look and she has fantastic taste.  It was like planning the decor for a wedding
(remember me in years to come Alison to plan your special day)!

Everything was grown up, elegant, simple and just beautiful.

Guests picked up their place cards which were real starfish with a ribbon accent displayed on
satin tiffany blue linen.

By using up-lighting, beautiful linens and white drapes the Temple Sinai of Newington CT social hall
was transformed into an elegant beach destination.  A fresh white dance floor from Boppers Events
only added to the grandeur.

What beach scene doesn’t feature sand, shells and the aquamarine color of the ocean?
I tried to bring in these elements anywhere and everywhere I could, even in the base of the
centerpieces.

Three different-sized vases combined with sea glass and tiffany blue floating candles arranged
on a base of sand, shells and starfish comprised the focal points of the tables.  The sand-colored
table numbers blended perfectly with the theme.

To get the dancing started I had sock giveaways in different shades of green and blue so the girls
could jump right in and dance like it was 1999 (or maybe like it was 1989 since the Bat Mitzvah girl
is a huge Taylor Swift fan)!

There was a photo of the guest of honor for friends to sign and leave a special little note.

I made a gift box wrapped in burlap to look like sand and added a ribbon in tiffany blue and a
starfish for good luck.  It matched perfectly with the theme and will be a nice keepsake long after
the party is over.

To add a little more beach to the decor I scattered little shells on the tables accented by votives.

One of the highlights of the party was the candle lighting ceremony.  The Bat Mitzvah girl made
some touching speeches about all of the important people in her life and invited them up to light
a candle.

The candle lighting piece used different size vases wrapped with ribbon with gel beads and
floating candles on top to light.  It was made to glow by using LED lights hidden inside clear
gel beads.

As the Bat Mitzvah girl’s friends left the party they were given a great long sleeve shirt with the
date to help remember this special day.
