Valentine’s Day Caprese Salad

Valentine's Day Caprese Salad

Here’s a creative idea to bring Valentine’s Day to your dinner table.  I made a traditional
mozzarella and tomato salad with a twist.  Easy to make and delicious to eat.

Valentine's Day Caprese Salad

1 package of Bel Gioioso Sliced Fresh Mozzarella
5 equal sized tomatoes
3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive oil
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
freshly grated pepper and salt to taste
bunch of fresh basil leaves
small heart cookie cutter

Valentine's Day Caprese salad ingredients

Using cookie cutter, cut out mozzarella hearts.  I like to use the pre-sliced mozzarella. This helps
make the hearts all the same thickness and size.

Valentine's Day Caprese Salad

Using a serrated knife cut equal sized tomato slices.

Pour vinegar into small pot. Turn kitchen fan on to help with the strong vinegar fumes. Bring to
simmer over medium-high heat then turn down heat to keep at a low simmer. It will take about
10-15 minutes to thicken and reduce.  When the vinegar is able to stick and coat the back of a
spoon, it is ready.

On a platter, make a pattern alternating tomato slices, basil, and fresh mozzarella.

Drizzle balsamic reduction, and olive oil.  Season with salt and freshly ground pepper.

Easy! Done! Enjoy!
